There is big news from the Cromwell Fire Department. A new 3- story office complex that houses the Fire District offices, the Water Division and Fire Marshal's office has recently been completed. It also contains a three-bay fire station that is home to Engine # 3, Ambulance 4-A and Marine Unit-11. The new office complex and fire station stands on the site of the original 1928 single bay station located at #1 West Street in downtown Cromwell. The office complex took over 2-years to build at a cost just over $3-million dollars and will be dedicated this fall.
The new Rescue Engine # 3 is a 2007 KME Predator Series. with a 455 hp Detroit Diesel, a 2000 gpm pump, 750 gallon water, 50 gallon class A foam and 30 gallon class B foam tanks, along with a 5,000 watt generator, and Hurst Omni tool. This truck replaces the 1972 Mack CF-Serial located at the new West Street Station and went on line in March.
The new Truck # 1 is a 2006 Emergency-One Bronto Skylift 100ft RL Platform. It has a Series 60 Detroit Diesel, a 2000 gpm pump, 300 gallon water tank, and equipped with a Onan 10,000 watt Generator. This truck replaces the 1983 Mack Aerial Scope at the Court Street Station and went on line in February.
